7. | Museum | |
FDDI has set up an International Footwear Museum at FDDI Campus, NOIDA. It is opened to the general public for information & knowledge. The display includes historical footwears, ethnic footwears, tools, equipments, components, raw materials and relevant cultural materials. This will be supplemented by historical inputs & traditional samples of folk & tribal tradition. Illustrative materials i.e. photographs, painting, digital panels, transparencies will be added to make it an integrated dissemination center. International Footwear Museum at FDDI Campus, Noida is an asset to cater the need of students, faculty, and scholars in their educational & academic pursuit on one hand and the common visitors as place of attraction. | ||
8. | Branch in Mumbai | |
FDDI has set up an International Design Studio at NOIDA, with the state-of-the-art hardware and software to provide latest and accurate product development, on the international market lines, to the major contributors in footwear exports from the country. FDDI intends to support the SME sector, in a similar fashion as it has been facilitating the major players, with an aim of providing world-class design services so as to enable them in collecting export orders during various Int’l shoe fairs where exporters display their products. FDDI has setup, FDDI branch consisting of Satellite Design Studio, with FDDI International Design Studio at NOIDA acting as mother studio, at Mumbai where major clusters of SMEs exists. The Satellite Design Studio will be major part of FDDI branch. In addition, FDDI will conduct short term courses for training of youth from weaker section for better employment. Training of workers for skill upgradation will improve the quality & productivity of small scale industries. FDDI will also provide consultancy for acquiring latest technology & for improvement of productivity & quality. Mumbai has been identified as one city that has significant population of small and micro enterprises located in Dharavi. | ||
9. | Long Distance Education in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) | |
Workers in unorganized sector is mostly of backward community and the rural populace. To educate these workers is a real challenge. FDDI has started distant learning programme for the benefit of workers in collaboration with IGNOU who is already in the process of distance learning programme. Open learning & distance education by IGNOU has taken a giant step. Gyan Darshan and Gyan Vani on T.V. Educational channel and on F.M. radio have made mark in the education in the country. The major part of theoretical training will be given through correspondence / T.V. channel / F.M. radio / computer Email. The practical training will be arranged by FDDI at different clusters located all over India. Under this proposal, workers working in different industry across the country will be given training and exposure and will be awarded diploma after evaluation of up-gradation. The courses – CUTTING, CLOSING, LASTING & FINISHING are being launched from July, 2006 | ||
10. | Common Facility Center | |
FDDI has set up a Common Facility Center to help & encourage Small Scale Industries units, cottage industries by providing capital intensive sophisticated footwear machines on a nominal rent. The facilities equipped with cutting, closing, component making, lasting – flat lasting, force lasting, direct vulcanized moulding, direct injection moulding, EVA Injection moulding, PU/TPU injection moulding, Goodyear welted plant etc. The center has facility of power supply backup, compressed air and water supply. | ||
11. | Display Centre for Ethnic Footwear | |
FDDI was designated agency for a scheme related to ethnic footwear under ILDP of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India during the Ninth plan period. The scheme has also been included under ILDP during the Tenth plan period. FDDI initiated interventions in Rajasthan & Punjab and completed surveys in Punjab, Haryana & Gujarat. The survey of artisans in Leh is likely to be completed by December 2004. In view of diversity of products and culture heritage FDDI has set up a permanent display centre for these items. The display center is in FDDI campus. Besides display of products from different regions it provides a platform for foreign buyers and thus impacting exports of the products. | ||
12. | Revival and Upgradation of Traditional Footwear in Leh | |
FDDI has initiated a baseline survey of artisans making traditional footwear in Leh. The product is known as “Papu Shoe” and is being made from local material and its special characteristic is that it can withstand extremely low temperature. The survey is likely to be completed by December 2004 and thereafter appropriate interventions for upgrading its quality etc. will be undertaken with the assistance under ILDP. | ||
13. | Focus on Sports Shoe Technology | |
The Indian Footwear Industry currently produces about 850 million – shoes pairs per annum in leather and non-leather segments. Exports from India are projected to cross the US$1000 million mark shortly in total estimated market size of India being US$6 billion. FDDI has set up of the Sports Shoe technology center in the FDDI complex with the following objectives :

14. | Ethnic Footwear | |
FDDI is promoting Society for Marketing of Artisans & Rural Things (SMART). Punjabi Jooti has been taken up along with Mojari of Rajasthan for skill up-gradation of artisans. In addition to skill up-gradation, assistance for international marketing is being provided. | ||
15. | Strengthening of FDDI Sub Centres | |
The facility spectrum has been upgraded to enable the sub-centers to play a larger role in the whole developmental process of the industry. Under these projects CAD/CAM facility has been provided in Chennai, Mumbai & production facility has been provided at Bangalore Centre. | ||
16. | Artisan Skill Development | |
FDDI provided consultancy to KVIC for setting up of Common Facility Center for upgradation skill of artisans at various places including, Ambala, Kalyani. Artisans Skill Development Programmes have been undertaken at Saharanpur & Hazaribagh, after setting up of Common Facility Centers at both places. Further, skill upgradation has been undertaken at Saharanpur, Jaipur, Alwar etc. under HRD Mission. | ||

Placement Team | ||
Placement team coordinates all placement activities and operates as the primary interface between the corporate world and the institute. The Placement team is responsible for identifying the right student – organization fit, the placement team selects targets and invites companies to campus for final placements. It has an active role in consolidating the list of companies for final placements, designing placement brochure, and coordinating in scheduling and organizing placement interviews. | ||
